Ubey Talha Akkaya is a multidisciplinary artist working across visual arts, monumental installation, and documentary photography. Memory, trace, space, belonging, and the vulnerability of the human condition in the face of history are central concepts in his artistic practice.

His relationship with photography began at an early age under the guidance and influence of Ara Güler. After studying international economics in Skopje, Macedonia, Akkaya also pursued studies in design and art history. He later focused on the relationship between material, volume, and space at the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Hacettepe University.

To strengthen the conceptual foundation of his work, Akkaya completed graduate studies in Turkish folklore. Drawing from Turkish mythology, Shamanism, post-Islamic layers of belief, and folk culture, he has developed an artistic language rooted in memory, ritual, belief, and cultural continuity.

With public monumental sculptures in various regions of Turkey, Akkaya’s works have been presented in exhibitions and art events across Turkey and Europe. In his documentary photography projects, he focuses on child rights violations, migration, refugees, and social vulnerability.

Akkaya approaches photography not merely as a means of documentation, but as a field of witnessing, memory, and conscience. He uses the language of black-and-white photography as a vessel for time, silence, and spatial memory. As a continuation of this intellectual and artistic trajectory, his exhibition “YOL / THE PATH” brings together the concepts of trace, space, memory, and inner journey through photography, video, sound, and installation.
